Our patients often ask about the dental implant procedure. We fully understand this concern because knowing and understanding the process can alleviate anxiety and help in making an informed decision. That’s why we’ve prepared this brief description to provide you with the essential facts and benefits of dental implants.

The dental implant procedure is a multi-step process designed to replace missing teeth with implants that look and function like natural teeth. Here, we present a concise yet detailed description of the entire procedure to help you understand how implant placement and crown fabrication work. Just like with root canal treatment or bonding, successfully completing the implant procedure to achieve an exceptional, natural result requires the experience, knowledge, and exceptional manual skills of the dental team. At Ars Dentistica, we work exclusively with carefully selected, top dentists in Krakow who believe that dentistry is both a science and an art, and they passionately create naturally beautiful smiles. For us, it’s more than just a job.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

An Ars Dentistica specialist will assess your oral health, examine the condition of your jawbone, and review your medical history. At this stage, we always request X-rays and a 3D CT scan to evaluate the bone structure. The doctor will then develop a fully individualized treatment plan, specifying the number of implants needed and detailing the procedure.

Step 2: Tooth Extraction (if necessary)

If a damaged tooth is still present, it will be removed under local anesthesia. The extraction site needs time to heal, which can take several weeks. In special cases, the implant can be placed immediately after extraction.

Step 3: Bone Grafting (if necessary)

If the bone is not thick enough or is too soft, a bone graft may be necessary to strengthen the bone for the implant. The grafted bone needs time to heal and grow, usually taking several months.

Step 4: Implant Placement

This procedure is performed under local anesthesia. A small incision is made in the gum to expose the bone, and a hole is drilled where the titanium implant will be placed. The gum is then sutured over the implant.

Step 5: Osseointegration

Over the next few months, typically 3 to 6, the implant integrates with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This complex biological and chemical process involves the implant fusing with the bone tissue, creating a solid foundation for the new tooth. Full osseointegration ensures a long-term, successful result. The implant’s surface is specially prepared to initiate this process, and its biocompatibility helps ensure the body does not treat it as a foreign object. At Ars Dentistica, we use only premium-quality, extensively tested implants, achieving the best results with the Osstem system, a world leader in this field. Follow-up visits are recommended during this process to ensure proper healing.

Step 6: Abutment Placement

This procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The gum is reopened to attach the abutment to the implant, which will hold the final crown. After the procedure, the gum tissue around the abutment needs to heal, which takes a few weeks.

Step 7: Crown Design and Placement

An impression of your bite is taken to create a custom-designed all-ceramic crown. At Ars Dentistica, the color and shape of the crown are individually determined with you by the attending doctor. The all-ceramic crown is designed to match the color and shape of your natural teeth, ensuring a fully natural look and a beautiful smile. Once the crown is prepared by our partnered specialized prosthetic studio, it is attached to the abutment.

Post-Procedure Care and Follow-Up Visits

You will receive instructions on how to care for your implant, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits. Follow-up visits are essential to ensure the proper functioning of the implant and the health of the surrounding gums and bone.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Durability: Implants are durable and strong.

Aesthetics: They look and feel like natural teeth.

Functionality: They restore optimal chewing and speaking abilities.

Bone Health: They prevent bone loss and maintain the structure of the jaw.

The entire process of dental implant placement can take several months, depending on your individual situation, including the need for bone grafting and the healing rate. Throughout the entire treatment process, our specialists are available for consultations.

Visit Ars Dentistica to find out if an implant is the recommended solution for you! To plan your implant treatment, schedule an appointment by calling +48 532 492 030, or fill out the online registration form.

Invisalign – what is it and what does the treatment process look like?

Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic system used for straightening teeth. It is an alternative to traditional braces, such as metal or ceramic braces. Invisalign uses transparent, nearly invisible mouth overlays, called aligners, made of plastic.

The process begins by creating a model of the patient’s oral cavity, using a special 3D scanner or dental impressions. A computer model of the occlusion is created based on this data and the subsequent stages of tooth movement are planned.

Then, an orthodontic specialist develops a series of transparent overlays, called “aligners”. Each aligner is made of an exceptionally flexible thermoplastic material. The patient wears one aligner for about 1-2 weeks, then moves on to the next in the series.

Each subsequent aligner is slightly different from the previous one, causing a gradual shift of the teeth in the intended direction. This process is monitored by an experienced Ars Dentistica doctor, who regularly checks the progress and adjusts the treatment plan if necessary.

Benefits of Invisalign over fixed braces orthodontic treatment

The most frequently mentioned benefits of the Invisalign system by patients include:

Discretion: Invisalign aligners are made of clear material, making them virtually invisible when worn. This allows orthodontic treatment to be carried out while maintaining more discretion, as the visibility of braces is a treatment barrier for many patients.

Comfort: Invisalign is considered by many patients to be significantly more comfortable to wear than traditional fixed braces. The overlays are smooth and do not irritate the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, and the lack of metal elements eliminates the risk of abrasions and injuries.

Ease of hygiene: Unlike fixed braces, Invisalign aligners are removed when brushing teeth, which makes maintaining oral hygiene easier. Patients can normally brush their teeth and use dental floss without having to bypass wires and locks.

No dietary restrictions: Patients using Invisalign do not have to restrict their diet, as the overlays are removed during eating and drinking. You can freely eat all your favorite foods and drinks, which is more difficult with traditional fixed braces, where some products can negatively affect the locks or wires.

Fewer control visits: The frequency of visits to the orthodontist with Invisalign is usually less than with fixed braces. Control visits are planned according to the patient’s needs, and overlays are provided several weeks in advance, which means fewer regular visits to the office.

Do Invisalign overlays have any disadvantages?

Like any treatment method, Invisalign, of course, has its drawbacks. The most frequently indicated by patients and doctors include:

Discipline of wearing: The effects of Invisalign treatment depend on systematic wearing of the overlays for a specified time each day. The patient must implement self-discipline to wear the overlays for the recommended time, usually about 20-22 hours a day. Improper, too short application can affect the effects of treatment.

Cost: Invisalign treatment can be more expensive than traditional fixed braces. The price may vary depending on the individual case, the complexity of the malocclusion, and the location. Consulting with a doctor will provide exact information about costs.

Limitations in complex cases: Invisalign is effective in treating many cases of malocclusion, but not always. More complicated orthodontic problems, such as significant tooth displacements or serious bite problems, may require traditional fixed braces or other treatment methods. An experienced doctor from the Ars Dentistica team in Krakow will present an appropriate treatment plan.

Is Invisalign the right solution for me?

We would like to emphasize that Invisalign is a great and modern method of orthodontic treatment, but it’s not suitable for all cases. In some situations, especially when there are serious bite problems, the use of traditional orthodontic braces may be necessary. Therefore, to evaluate whether Invisalign will provide the expected results, a consultation with an experienced doctor from Ars Dentistica is essential to assess if Invisalign is suitable for your specific case.

Bonding is a dental procedure that is gaining increasing popularity among patients. It is also referred to as remodeling or layering. If you want to learn what bonding of teeth is and when it is worth considering, or if you have searched for the term “Bonding of teeth Krakow,” we invite you to read this article.

What exactly is teeth bonding?

It’s a non-invasive technique for rebuilding, altering the color, or reshaping teeth. The procedure involves applying a layer of highly aesthetic composite material to the teeth, which is then molded according to the dentist’s vision. With minimal intervention in the enamel structure and no need for tooth grinding like crowns or veneers, bonding delivers fast and impressive aesthetic results. It can even be performed alongside the replacement of existing fillings, minimizing invasiveness and cost for the patient. Our dental clinic strictly adheres to the principle of minimizing invasive procedures when conducting cavity restorations with bonding.

How does teeth bonding treatment look like?

Teeth bonding is an effective and frequently employed method in comprehensive treatment plans aimed at creating natural, beautiful smile. It can help to effectively correct dental defects and resolve permanent discoloration, with a common focus on the front teeth. The procedure utilizes a highly aesthetic composite material that lends itself well to precise shaping. Skilled dentists can achieve spectacular smile transformations using this versatile material, available in a range of shades to ensure optimal color matching. Bonding represents one of the specialized procedures offered by Ars Dentistica dental studio, where our artistic approach sets us apart in the dental care landscape of Krakow.

From the patient’s perspective, the bonding procedure resembles filling cavities and is entirely painless. Talented and skilled dentists at Ars Dentistica apply thin layers of composite material during a single visit, skillfully shaping and polishing the teeth to achieve the desired outcome. The color is carefully selected in consultation with the patient, ensuring a personalized result. Typically, bonding for a single tooth can be completed in approximately one hour, allowing patients to leave the dental clinic with a rejuvenated smile. It’s important to note that prior to undergoing bonding, any necessary dental treatments, such as cavity restorations and periodontal disease management, should be addressed.

When should I consider teeth bonding as an option?

The applications of teeth bonding are diverse, making it an ideal choice for addressing minor crown deformations, fractures, or gaps caused by chipping or cracking. It is also effective for cases where a tooth’s size differs from that of surrounding teeth. Additionally, bonding is an excellent option for closing unwanted spaces that may remain after orthodontic treatment.

The success of bonding largely depends on the experience, manual dexterity, and aesthetic sensibilities of the performing dentist. At Ars Dentistica, we firmly believe that dentistry is an art, and our skilled professionals possess years of experience in delivering exceptional bonding results. It’s worth mentioning that while bonding provides excellent outcomes, it may require occasional maintenance due to natural wear over time.

Making the right choice can be challenging for patients, which is why the guidance and recommendations of experienced dentists are crucial. In some cases, alternative options such as veneers or full ceramic crowns may be more suitable. If you’re seeking to improve the aesthetics of your smile quickly, bonding may offer a fast and effective solution. Schedule your appointment today and visit our dental clinic in Krakow at Ars Dentistica, located at ul. Zamknięta 10/3.

A tooth is a unit that is closely embedded in its owner and, like its owner, it is a living structure, made up of not only mineralized but also living cells. These cells “live” in a huge number of narrow tubules – there they are nourished and function properly if their “home” in the form of hard tooth tissue is not damaged. However, if for some reason this “apartment” begins to deteriorate, the dentin cells will let you know about it, and you will have to look for ways to relieve the toothache.

Pain may appear hypersensitive at first when consuming warm or cold food and drink. Depending on the reason why the tooth tissues were damaged, we can deal with the problem in many ways.

The cause of pain caused by temperature may be the exposure of the necks of the teeth, which is caused by brushing the teeth too hard in a horizontal movement. The so-called wedge-shaped defects which may react with pain when eating or drinking. Usually, in such cases, the paste alone may not be sufficient preventive measure. After examining the degree of tissue destruction, the dentist may recommend replacing them with a special material, which will significantly reduce the sensitivity of the teeth. Our “information cells” will be better isolated from the outside environment and the ailments will decrease significantly

Pain while brushing

If you suffer from hypersensitivity, you should brush your teeth a bit differently and change your brushing technique. Come and visit us, we will advise you on how to properly brush your teeth so that the problem does not increase. It is possible!

What are exposed necks?

It’s also important to know that the term “exposed necks” used by patients and the resulting hypersensitivity do not always mean the same thing. “Exposed necks” can be caused by the gums escaping upwards or by brushing the enamel around the tooth necks. Therefore, a visit to a specialist and assessment of the problem, as well as a proposal to solve it, is essential in this case.

Sudden, spontaneous pain

For toothache, we can use painkillers on an ad hoc basis, but only “on the way to the dentist”. Spontaneous pain, symptomatically pacified with medications, will probably return with a double force, if its cause is not removed. That is why quack home remedies for toothache, e.g. using clove oil and other interesting specifics, can only help for a moment and only mask the symptoms of inflammation that is spreading all the time.

Medications based on paracetamol (in a soluble form) enriched with codeine (daily) or ibuprofen and anti-inflammatory drugs can be an immediate, often effective way to fight pain. However, if the cells have died or the dying process is underway, which is manifested by pain, it is absolutely necessary to remove them from their “closed and unventilated apartment”. Otherwise they will contribute to bad breath and produce bacterial gases, which can result in severe facial swelling. To remove dead cells, you need to undergo root canal treatment.

Therefore, do not wait for the worst and instead of using your aunt’s home methods :), or other valuable advice you read on the forums, go for a professional consultation, it will save you a lot of stress and unfriendly consequences. We warmly invite you.

My tooth hurts. Err there, probably nothing urgent. That’s why I put off as much as I can, after all, sitting in an armchair is not pleasant. After all, it bothers me so much that I come to the office urgently, and the dentist tells me that it is too late. The tooth must be treated with a root canal. How is this possible? After all, there was no hole in it! How is that? Teeth can break from the inside?

How do you know this? Nothing unusual. All available reports say that the condition of Poles’ teeth is very bad. Unfortunately, we also include children in this negative statistic. Compared to Europe, we are among the countries whose society is characterized by a high percentage of tooth loss due to carious destruction of their crowns and roots. Consequently, edentulousness occurs with high frequency at an early age.

In our consciousness, putting prevention first was never a habit. And caries disease, like any other, is best treated in the early stages. Ba! It can even regress if detected early enough. Surprised?

Where does tooth decay come from and how to prevent it?
Few people know that tooth decay is an infectious disease. It is caused by bacteria that a newborn baby does not have at all. Therefore, it is extremely important to introduce the rules of preventing this disease as early as possible. How can this be done?

Be careful with sugar
For example, by the principle of using the child’s own cutlery, not licking the common lollipop … And this is also due to the presence of refined sugar in it. We should remember that bacterial strains responsible for the development and progression of caries eagerly feed on sugar obtained and added artificially to many products. Refined sugar is especially cariogenic, and not the one contained naturally in, for example, fruit. If there are food residues on the teeth, which together with bacteria form part of the so-called plaque – the caries development mechanism is triggered very quickly.

Don’t forget to floss
Statistics, including my own, show that patients rarely find time to floss the interdental spaces. Often they are not even aware of the correct technique for this procedure.

And yet it is in the interdental spaces that deceptive cariogenic bacteria most often arrange a cozy apartment with free food!

They can unnoticed deal with our enamel and dentin, leading to the breakdown of these tissues and the rapid progression of the disease. And an electric toothbrush, or any other, will not endanger them in any way.

Learn how to properly brush your teeth
Therefore, it is important that everyone is aware of how to effectively remove bacterial plaque with a thread and a brush. And maybe I will surprise you – you do not need “heavy equipment” for heavy money. The key is the proper technique of using a manual toothbrush and the right amount of time spent on brushing.

Therefore, feel free to ask our dentist how to clean your teeth in the most effective way. It turns out that adult Poles know the methods of brushing, which should be used mainly by children, because they do not require higher manual dexterity – many of my patients, after the hygiene instruction, regret that “no one has explained to them how to brush well … “

But it’s no shame – believe me, it’s better to get this skill even late, because what we can gain cannot be overestimated. Some sources also say that we are more protected by cleaning our teeth thoroughly once a day (preferably after consuming the last meal) than even repeated, but ineffective “waving” the brush …

Take a picture of your teeth
An extremely important element in the prevention of caries is also correct diagnosis. It is worth enriching the visual examination at the dentist with radiological diagnostics. Periodic taking of pictures with an extremely low dose of radiation that is insignificant for our health (in the appropriate projection) selected by the doctor, allows to detect carious lesions even in the initial stage, invisible from the outside and helps to avoid the effect of teeth “deteriorating from the inside” or “from below” .
